The top
resource requested on our needs survey continues to be small group session
plans. On this page you can find sessions that people like you have
written and chosen to share with this community. Some of these sessions
are posted on this site, others are links to other websites.
The sessions
below are posted in order of submission and in the format submitted. Thanks
to all of you who have written and shared sessions!
Sharing
Sessions Plans for small group ministry or covenant groups is a
major reason for coming to the UU Small Group Ministry website. You
need more sessions and so do all your fellow group leaders and
participants. And you may have plans to share. If every
congregation accessing this page shares one session per year we will
have a never ending source of sessions.
Please
send sessions plans to: office@smallgroupministry.net.
They may be sent in MS Word, RTF, Simple Text or PDF files. Please
give your name, congregation and city/state. Sessions plans are
posted as they are submitted and there is a variety of styles. Let
us know if there is a collection of session plans on your
congregation’s website, and we will note this in the
Collections section on the UUSGM Network website.
Didn't
write it down? A
number of people say that they have come up with session plans but
have not written them down. PLEASE take a moment to write up a draft
of what you did. There is a
template for
doing this. If there is a session plan on the site that is the same
topic as one you would like to share, send yours anyway. There are
many ways to consider a topic.
We have been asked
about copyright
considerations in creating session plans. *Always
document the origin of the material as completely as possible,
including author, identification and location of the original
material (including web sites and links). This includes noting the
author of original material as
a session plan is developed,
even if it is initially intended for use just within a congregation.
*Give
a complete reference so that people can find the original source,
rather than copying material into the text of the session plan. For
example, the UU hymnal, Singing
the Living Tradition,
is usually available to Unitarian Universalists congregations and
individuals. The number of the selection used is noted.
*Contact
the author or publisher, especially contemporary authors and their
publishers. Permission may be given gratis or there may be a fee
(usually small) for using material. Publishers such as Skinner House
may be interested in having people use excerpts of materials or
actually developing session plans based on their publications.
Contact the publisher for permission to use the material.
*There
is material that is considered to be in public domain, or no longer
having copyright concerns. There is also material that can be taken
from internet sources. Look for copyright notation or other
statements regarding usage of materials. At the very minimum,
document the sources.
Copyrights
relating to the Small Group Ministry Network. The
copyright considerations are the responsibility of the authors of
the material that is being submitted.
Ownership of
material that is submitted for the website remains with the
submitter or writer. The Network is providing a vehicle for
distribution of the material rather than claiming the material as
part of the Network.
The
Directory of Session Plans on or linked to this site is arranged by
title, also giving the source and the date that it was posted to the
web site. Click on the title of the plan that you want to review,
and you will obtain the plan or a link.
Plans
are posted as received. About every 3 months, plans will be
integrated into the master Directory.
